We hold in our prayers the Birmingham Methodist District and also the Methodist Churches & all Christians in Nigeria & the Cameroons. It was great to hear the Methodist Bishop of Nigeria at the recent Methodist Conference.

We pray for the President  & Vice President of the Methodist Church, Rev Steve Wild & Jill Barber who have just started on their year of office and for Rev Roger Walton & Rachel Lampard, who will be the President & Vice President for the Conference in 2016.

We remember today those working for peace & stability in Iraq, Syria, Gaza, Israel, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Nigeria, West Africa & many other places around our world – for those who flee their homes as refugees. For all those drawn into violence, that they will see the true path though peace. For the families of those killed in Tunisia.

To mark the 185th anniversary of Thornhillhead Chapel and the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the Bible Christian movement, Diane Barron & Gill Badcock have produced an illustrated booklet which contains information on not only the Chapel building but on the Circuit events which took place in the Chapel and on Thornhillhead Moor and the many individuals who have been involved in the Church life over the last 185 years.  The booklet can be obtained by phoning Diane on 01237 474483 or Gill on 01237 421461.  The booklets cost £5 (plus postage if applicable).

Methodist Collection for Sunday 21st June was £68.50 & for Sunday 28th June which was £51

The Collection today is for Parish Church Funds – Methodist Envelopes are for Methodist Church & Circuit Funds

The profit raised at the Plant & Safari Lunch in May for Fete Funds was £2142.83 – a part of this amount will be shared between the Methodist & Parish Churches and the Village Hall and the remainder will be for Fete expenses. Again, many thanks to all who helped & attended.

Loving Father,
it is the first day of the week; but in the story of creation, it is the day on which you rested.
I, a small part of your creation, find it hard to rest, to take time out, to relax.
Help me, Lord, to make time in my busy days for you. To remember that without you I am nothing, and that my sole purpose is to serve and worship you.
Be with me now, at the start, and throughout the whole of the week ahead.
In Jesus’ name. Amen
